A CHAT WITH SEWELL SWEETS

In this mini video feature, join NwWU host, Crystal Genes Photography as she chats with Catherine Sewell, owner of Sewell Sweets, at Urban Studio.

Catherine specializes in handmade sugar flowers and high end edible painted cakes. All the flavors are scratch made, and she loves crafting new flavor combinations. One of her favorites is an earl gray and lavender combo with fresh blackberries. Yum! Her style is full of color and detail, and are definitely works of art! She says she adores creating edible art that is just as unique as each one of her couples.

It breaks her heart when she hears people say you can’t have a pretty cake that also tastes good. She doesn’t believe that’s true.

She loves clients that trust her and her artistic vision within their wedding vision. Her ideal client has a general idea and vibe of what they are looking for, but trust her to play and be creative within those parameters.

Their prices start at $7 per serving with a $400 minimum and most cakes average $10-12 per serving.

CATHERINE’S TIP FOR ALL COUPLES

Find vendors that you click with, both on their style level and how you like their overall look, as well as personality-wise. Always do an in person meeting when you can. If you connect with your vendors and you trust them and their process and your style, you can never go wrong.
