DEL REY BEACH, OREGON

Looking for Del Rey Beach Photography for your upcoming wedding or event? Del Rey Beach is a perfect place, located in Gearhart, Oregon, just 2 hours from Portland. The beach is located right off of Highway 101, making it easy to find and accessible.

If you have a four-wheel drive, take a little ride along the water and watch the waves hit your tires. This is the only beach in Oregon where you can drive your car for a few miles along the beach. But be careful! Make sure you check the tide table to ensure your car doesn’t get stuck in the high tide!

Don’t have the proper vehicle to get you onto the beach? That’s okay! There is a large parking spot just over the sand dunes, granting easy access to the beach via a short trail. Travel along the water and walk 2 miles to Seaside, or all the way to the Columbia River, about 10-15 miles away!

Nestled in the dunes along the coast, the town of Gearhart is quaint and unspoiled. It has no traffic lights and the center of town is charming, with shops, an art gallery, restaurants, and a renovated boutique inn. Located just minutes from Seaside, it is a quiet oasis from busy tourists but still close to entertainment.

WHY BOOK A TEARDROP TRAILER?

Oregon Teardrop Rentals provided us with a sleek red teardrop trailer for the photoshoot. Teardrop trailers are very small and light, making them towable by most midsize vehicles. The trailer consists of just a bed on the inside. The kitchen area is located on the backside of the trailer, under a liftable hatch that also acts as a small ‘awning’ if you will.

The kitchen area served as a bar top for the cake and cocktails for the event. And, the kitchen is lit with LED lights when it gets dark, and there are speakers to listen to music while you cook! After the event, hop inside the trailer, relax and watch the sunset all from your bed.

Unfortunately camping on Del Rey Beach is unlawful, but there are plenty of great camping spots and hotels located within minutes of the beach. With that said, why not bring your bed with you onto the beach, start your honeymoon right away and go camping after your ceremony?

Oregon Teardrop Trailers is a great place to start looking for your trailer rental. With many weddings being canceled and postponed due to COVID-19, Oregon Teardrop Trailers offers a creative alternative for small micro weddings. What is great about this vendor, they will deliver the cake, flowers, champagne, photographer, and teardrop to the outdoor venue of your choice, or you can bring vendors of your choice. After your wedding, take the trailer and go for a honeymoon road trip down historic highway 101 to California!

ABOUT THE DETAILS

Erica Guenther, owner of Events By Erie was our planner and coordinator for this event. Events By Erie is located out of Seaside, Oregon. She specializes in small Oregon Coast weddings and events. Growing up at the beach, Erica can provide personal experience and insight into local opportunities to explore to make their dream come true.

Flowers were provided by Alana Weintraub, owner of Flowers by Alana. We have worked with her before and there are many reasons why we continue to collaborate together. She makes absolutely beautiful floral arrangements all while focusing on environmental sustainability and equality as core pillars of her company.  Flowers by Alana works hard to support local farms and seek organic and ecologically friendly flowers.

Need an ordained officiant for your wedding? Carolyn, the owner of Oregon Beach Ceremonies joined us for the evening. Carolyn officiates along the Oregon Coast and enjoys beach weddings the most! She strives to plan meaningful and customized moments for her clients on their special day. Although Carolyn loves weddings, she is also experienced and skilled in the art of creating and facilitating ceremonies for healing and transition to commemorate important milestones in life.

For our Del Rey Beach Photography shoot, Dane with Casperson Productions provided us with our videography for the evening. Dane is a full-time Portland-based videographer specializing in weddings. He offers high-quality video that stands up to professional Hollywood filming. He offers everything from short highlight films, to full-length videos covering all the moments in the day.  Dane can do live streaming, same-day edits, and more for those guests who cannot make it to the event.

The adorable bar menu, name tags, and invitation suite were created by Amanda Donahue, owner, and artist of The Scribblist. Amanda is located in the Beaverton area and works with all the surrounding areas. Classically trained in painting, drawing, and sculpture, she is able to offer a wide range of services and to infuse her hand-lettering and modern calligraphy skills with hand-painted artwork.

ABOUT THE FOOD

Madeline Mersereau owner and baker of Rising Tides Baking Co. provided us with our beautiful blue micro cake and the adorable decorated sugar cookies. Rising Tides Baking Company offers breakfast, dessert, and snack items for those living at the beach or traveling here for a coastal getaway. Madeline uses local and quality ingredients that connect Oregon farmers and makers.

The table name tags were tied around the cutest little bread loaves made by a local Seaside bakery called Dough Dough Bakery. Dough Dough Bakery offers a unique experience that is part bakery, part wine shop, and a part pizza spot. All their products are locally sourced from local purveyors.

Would you like salami roses over real ones? The Platter Girl provided us with the delicious charcuterie board, adorned in salami shaped like roses. Based out of Portland, Oregon, Lea, the owner of The Platter Girl creates magnificent grazing boards filled with artisanal cheese, salami, dips, jams and honey, fresh fruit and veggies, tons of chocolate, and crackers. Once the food is on board it is then decorated with gorgeous florals and herbs.

Destiny Dudley owner of The Culinary Concierge created and provided us with the signature cocktails for the event. She crafted an old fashion and a champagne cocktail with raspberry liquor. The Culinary Concierge can provide everything from the dishes and linens to food/drink and everything in between.

ALL ABOUT THE BEAUTY

Both Hair and Make-up was done by Brigitte Wahlbeck owner of The Union Knot. Her studio salon is located in the heart of Cannon Beach but can perform her duties on-site at the venue, granted there is an electrical hook-up. There was no power at Del Rey Beach, so hair and make-up was done at the studio. Brigitte has been in the business for several years and has high professional standards for her work.

Our groom model, Ben, wore a suit designed by himself for a suit business called Fashion Tailored. Fashion Tailored was founded by Marc Smith and is based in Silicon Valley, California. They specialize in fully customized, made to measure men’s and women’s clothing.

The bride model, Ellie, wore a stunning lace dress loaned to us from Betty’s Girl Napa. Betty’s Girl boutique is located in Napa Valley, California, and is a hot spot for locals looking for vintage and one-of-a-kind dresses. Each garment is beautifully redesigned using vintage and recycled pieces to utilize fabrics of the past, bring them back to life, and minimize environmental waste.

The jewelry worn during this event was provided by Allison Ullmer, owner and jeweler of Ringed PDX. Ringed PDX is an intriguing concept where Allison teaches couples how to craft each other’s wedding bands, ceremonial rings, or engagement rings. With hammers, torches, files, hand saws, and discussions about your preferences, she will facilitate the making of your rings all while providing a truly memorable experience.

Our bride, Ellie received a spray tan by Emily, the owner of Cheeky Glow Co. located in Vancouver, Washington. Emily has been in the spray tan industry for over 5 years now and is very passionate about what she does. She loves seeing her client’s confidence and excitement when they look in the mirror after their tan! Her products are also vegan, gluten-free, and paraben-free!
