Alvord Desert Rainbow Wedding Inspiration
The Alvord Desert in Oregon is a unique and breathtaking location that offers a one-of-a-kind elopement experience. With its vast expanse of open space and stunning natural beauty, the Alvord Desert is a perfect destination for couples looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and embrace the tranquility and serenity of the great outdoors. Here are just a few reasons why you should consider eloping in the Alvord Desert.
Firstly, the Alvord Desert is an incredibly secluded location. Situated in the southeastern part of Oregon, it is one of the most remote areas in the state. This means that you and your partner can enjoy the privacy and intimacy of your elopement without any distractions or interruptions. You will be surrounded by nothing but the sound of the wind blowing across the desert, the rustling of sagebrush, and the occasional call of a bird. This seclusion can help you to fully focus on each other and the commitment you are making, without any outside pressures or distractions.
MOST SCENIC ELOPEMENT LOCATION
Secondly, the Alvord Desert offers some of the most spectacular natural scenery in the Pacific Northwest. The landscape is dominated by the massive expanse of the playa, a dry lake bed that stretches for over 12 miles. The playa is flanked by towering mountains on either side, including the majestic Steens Mountain. The contrast between the flat expanse of the playa and the rugged mountains creates a truly breathtaking backdrop for your elopement photos. The natural light is also stunning, with the sun setting over the mountains casting a golden glow over the desert floor.
Thirdly, eloping in the Alvord Desert is a unique and adventurous experience that you will never forget. The desert offers a variety of outdoor activities for adventurous couples, such as hiking, rock climbing, and hot springs soaking. You can even book a private hot springs retreat for your wedding night, complete with a romantic dinner under the stars. This sense of adventure and exploration can make your elopement even more special and memorable.
ALVORD DESERT HOT SPRINGS
The closest hot springs is Alvord Desert Hot Springs. The hot springs are situated near the base of the Steens Mountain and offer a truly unique and memorable experience for those who visit.
The hot springs are fed by natural geothermal activity, resulting in warm and soothing mineral-rich water that is perfect for soaking. The temperature of the water can range from around 90°F to over 110°F, depending on the time of year and weather conditions. The hot springs are located in a secluded spot in the desert, which adds to their allure and appeal.
One of the most unique aspects of Alvord Desert Hot Springs is that they are located in the middle of the desert. Visitors must drive along a rough dirt road to reach the hot springs, which are situated on a small rise overlooking the Alvord Desert playa. The surrounding scenery is stunning, with expansive views of the desert and mountains in the distance.
The hot springs are open year-round, and many visitors choose to visit during the cooler months when the desert temperatures are more moderate. Visitors are advised to bring their own towels and drinking water, as there are no facilities on site.
Other popular nearby hot springs are Crystal Crane Hot Springs in Crane, OR or Hart Mountain Hot Springs in Plush, OR.
ELOPE IN OREGON
Finally, eloping in the Alvord Desert is a great way to keep your wedding costs down. Traditional weddings can be incredibly expensive, with the average cost of a wedding in the United States now exceeding $30,000. By contrast, eloping in the Alvord Desert can be a much more affordable option. You can rent a 4×4 vehicle to explore the desert, bring your own camping gear or rent a private bunker, and enjoy a simple and intimate ceremony without the expense of a big wedding.
In conclusion, eloping in the Alvord Desert in Oregon is a unique and unforgettable experience that offers seclusion, natural beauty, adventure, and affordability. Whether you are looking for a quiet and intimate ceremony or an adventurous outdoor experience, the Alvord Desert is an excellent choice for your elopement destination.
ALL ABOUT THE VISION
You can often see rainbows over the playa. For this shoot, we wanted to bring in some pastel rainbow vibes to contrast with the stark vibrant landscape. Flowers By Alana created an amazing baby’s breath installation that she spray painted in our rainbow hues. The installation could easily be repurposed for the ceremony backdrop or the table centerpiece. She added in a few pops of individual flowers for some extra color and whimsy. Setting the Table rentals provided us with an rainbow assortment of goblets and other table decor. They also provided the foldable bar cart and barware, and cake stand. Speaking of the cake stand… this rainbow cake by Dream Cakes looked amazing against the blue sky! Trixy, owner of Black Thistle Co. designed some amazing invitation suites, and calligraphy names.
ALL ABOUT THE BEAUTY
We found the PERFECT rainbow wedding dress at Anna’s Bridal in Lake Oswego. Sarahi, owner of Pure Elegance Artistry did hair and makeup for our models, and Sparkle Strands in Bend, OR added some rainbow hair sparkle to the bride’s hair.
