THE EVERGREEN VENUE TOUR
In this feature, some of our favorite wedding vendors have come together to show off their expertise at one of our favorite venues, The Evergreen.
We chat with Shannon Hill, the sales director, about the space and what makes it great. Nicole Kohri, our bride model wears a dress from a&bé bridal shop. A team of some of our favorite wedding vendors have come together in this feature to create and show you what they do best!
We chat with makeup artist Shelby Renee of Shelby Renee XOXO, who provided makeup for our bride, as well as for hosts Crystal & Angela! We also get to know hairstylist Katie Horton of Primps And Bows, Amanda Lynn of A Perfect Day by Amanda Lynn, Wendy Warner of Lush Floral Design, and Rebecca Powazek of Bee’s Cakes. Rebecca was also featured in our last episode at The Duniway, so be sure to check it out to see her full interview and more of her work.
Watch our fourth episode to get a closer look at the airy space as well as to meet the talented vendors who collaborated with us.
WHY BOOK YOUR WEDDING AT THE EVERGREEN?
The Evergreen is in the middle of the best part of Portland (IMHO). Right in central SE, it’s in a historic building with lots of character. It’s above Loyal Legion and on the opposite corner from one of my long time favorite bars, Star Bar. They recently remodeled their basement to create one of the most beautiful speakeasy bars I’ve ever seen, Voysey.
They can host any size event, from 25 people to 350. The main level of The Evergreen has original hardwood floors and windows from 1908. The mezzanine level is a cute space that can be used for cocktail hour, games, a photo booth, dessert time, a lounge, or any other number of activities. Also on the mezzanine level is a gorgeous bridal suite with modern wallpaper, plants, and tons of natural light.
The Evergreen itself has a wraparound bar right on the main level, with taps for both beer and wine. They are partnered with and connected to Loyal Legion, a bar on the street level. Loyal Legion can be used for cocktail hour, and they have 99 taps. Finally, in the basement of The Evergreen, is a new speakeasy they’ve just opened called Voysey. It can also be used for cocktail hour, photos for the bride & groom, or rented separately.
HERE ARE SOME REASONS WE LOVE THIS VENUE:
The Evergreen is large, open, and sunny. There are huge windows covering the upper half of 2 walls, and there are two huge skylights as well.
There are built-in hang-points all along the ceiling, which can hold up to 250 lbs each. Aerial acts anyone? No? Hanging flowers then? Alright!
It’s a huge blank canvas. The sky is the limit when it comes to designing your perfect party in this space.
Not to sound like a lush, but so. many. bars. 3 in the same space, and countless more in the surrounding blocks. After party anyone?
ABOUT THIS FEATURE
Our inspiration for this episode was a pretty pastel color palate and colored vinyl records. We wanted something soft and romantic, but still full of color and FUN!
Wendy Warner, of Lush Floral Design, brought in some lovely floral arrangements. She considers herself to have more of a traditional and romantic style. When it comes to floral, she says the more the better!
Amanda Lynn of A Perfect Day by Amanda Lynn, helped coordinate and design the styling of the day. She not only offers planning services, but she has decor packages as well, and will help with setup and tear down. Many of the decor items from this feature were from her inventory. She hand dyed all the table runners and napkins you see here just for this shoot!
Rebecca Powazek, owner of Bee’s Cakes, made us a pretty little cake! She was inspired by our pastel color palette to create a watercolor effect. It was so pretty! Funfetti and red velvet were her flavors of choice for this cake, and they were delicious! Rebecca was also featured in our last episode at The Duniway, so be sure to check it out to see her full interview and more of her work.
ALL ABOUT THE BEAUTY
Makeup artist Shelby Renee, of Shelby Renee XOXO, did makeup for the bride as well as for both Angela & myself (your hosts). We both felt gorgeous! Shelby has such a cool and collected personality and is so much fun to work with!
Hair stylist Katie Horton, of Primps And Bows (such a fun name, right?!) gave our bride a stunning braid. Katie loves working with brides who want textured styles on their wedding day, saying they keep much better throughout the day, and are just more stress-free for the bride. Shelby and Katie have often worked together as a team, and they love it! For good reason, they work so seamlessly together, and finished getting our model ready in record time.
Our beautiful models were Nicole Kohri & Cetan Zahn. Nicole wore a dress from a&bé bridal shop. a&bé bridal shop is located on Alberta St. and they specialize in unique and fun wedding gowns. The shop is one of 7 locations across the USA.
